La Paz

Our first stop!

La pazzzzzzz
Ok so there we started, our first stop on this long trip. You might wonder why Bolivia? Actually I don't really remember the answer, we wanted to do social work and we knew of a good NGO in Bolivia (check next chapter on Tarija), we wanted to be in South America and Ruben had been to Peru, we thought we would start with Bolivia then go down to Chile and if we have time check a bit of Argentina.
We had a luxury treat on the trip from Madrid to Lima because they upgraded us to buisness. That was perfect because I wasn't in the most relaxed state on mind about leaving our life, appartement, friends and all and going for a crazy-scary-sacred...
Anyways, we arrived at 4000m of altitude in La Paz after about 28h of flights/stops. But still, the funny thing was that it was great!La paz is amazing: really beautifull, because of it geography, lively. Moreover we were hosted by Geraldine ( a MUWCI friend) who, unfortunatly, wasn't actually there. So we stayed with Silvio, her boyfriend. They live on the outskirts of La Paz, on a farm that they're planning to change into an organic farm. Geraldine is also in charge of a great NGO (www.whybolivia.org) so it was a gift to be hosted in such an amazing environment.
Oustide of La Paz, we visited different touristic place (tiwanaku and the Lake Titicaca) and not only we were amazed by the beauty of the sites (the light is something special there, probably has to do wit the lack of oxygen) but also we met some nice travellers (Serena and Scott if you happen to read this, a special hug for you). In total we stayed a bit less then a week in La Paz and had a special feeling for this city. I don't think our trip could have started in a more auspicious, beautifull place.
